Screen Printed (Silk Screen) Vinyl Banners

What is screen printing? The process begins with the artwork. Each color in the graphic is separated and printed onto a separate "film". Next the film is sent to our screen printing department where it is used in tandem with a screen. The "silk" screen is made of a fine mesh which is mounted on a rigid frame. The mesh allows ink to pass through it. The screens are coated with a light sensitive chemical that becomes hard when exposed to light. The positive art film for each color is placed on separate coated screens preventing light from exposing specific areas of each screen. The positive art areas that block the light do not become hard, and the coating can be washed away. These open areas will allow the ink to pass through the mesh and "print" each color individually onto the vinyl banner mimicking the artwork. In other words, the screens serve as essentially stencils for each color in the prescribed artwork.

A squeegee is used to spread a small quantity of color ink evenly across a screen corresponding to that color. Each color is meticulously placed on top of the previous color replicating the original artwork. Consequently, one screen and film is needed for each color.

Our automatic screen printing presses print large quantities of screen printed vinyl banners in small amounts of time passing the savings on to our customers. We have several presses including a large M & R Renegade and an M & R Saturn.
